Gjermundbu helmet – black
245,00 €
Gjermundbu helmet is made of 2,5mm steel. Great for historical reenactment. Helmet made entirely according to the find.
Please choose the size of the Gjermundbu helmet including arming cap.
Keep in mind that: my arming caps increase the circumference of the head by about 5-6 cm. For example, if you have a bare head circumference of 60 cm and want to buy a helmet with a quilted cap, choose the size 66 cm. if you intend to buy an additional leather lining, choose a size 2 cm larger, i.e. 68 cm. If you have any doubts, write to me I will be happy to help!
The deadline is 3-45 days.

The Gjermundbu helmet is the only find of a complete helmet from Norway. Are you sure?
Gjermundbu helmet - the name comes from a farmer named Gejrmundbu who found the helmet in 1943 in his field. The helmet was buried in a huge mound - a Viking tomb. The reconstruction of the find is now presented in the museum in Oslo.
Several other artefacts that have been classified as parts of helmets have also been found in Scandinavia. The most popular find is the
Tjele helmet from Denmark.
Mask helmets most likely evolved from Wendel helmets. The Gjermundbu helmet replica is well known to all reenactors. My interpretation is the most accurate replica possible in the context of safe use in combat.
Did the Vikings wear horns?
It is possible that they used helmets with horns for ceremonial purposes. However, these are guesses.
Did the Gjermund helmet have a mail coif?
We don't know that either. The rings attached to the sheet metal strip do not bear any traces of riveting, and in fact we can guess that they were used to attach the neck and face mail cover.
Today's battlefield of reenactors and Larp supporters.
The reconstruction of the helmet and the use of modern metal sheets significantly improved the protective parameters of modern helmets. Helmets from WOJMIRA are very safe and tested on the battlefield for many seasons. Our helmets are a replica combined with maximum safety and the highest quality of workmanship.
